Last week GaltTec was visited by H2CoVE project partners. The project aims to build a stronger and greener hydrogen economy across Europe, through talks and surveys, collecting data for creating hydrogen courses training programs for the future.

GaltTec CEO and co-founder Glen Kelp showed the delegation how GaltTec’s solid oxide fuel cell technology helps to support building the sustainable hydrogen ecosystems.

This week the programme kicked off at the e-Estonia Briefing Centre with the practical panel and discussion of what NOT to do. As NATO DIANA alumni GaltTec was part of the panel and CEO Glen inspired the next generation of DIANA companies to avoid the mistakes by giving examples of his own screw-ups.🙃

Estonian Deep-Tech Startup GaltTec Secures €1M to Power Drones and IoT Devices with Next-Generation Fuel Cells

GaltTec OÜ, an Estonian deep-tech startup developing micro-tubular solid oxide fuel cells (mSOFCs) for portable and off-grid energy solutions, has successfully closed its pre-seed funding round, raising a total of €1 million from private investors and grants. The investment will accelerate the company’s mission to provide lightweight, long-lasting power solutions for drones and IoT devices, reducing reliance on conventional batteries.

The round was led by 2C Ventures, a cleantech focused venture capital fund committed to advancing climate-neutral economy. The Fund seeks to back exceptional science based start-ups developing transformative technologies and is managed by Martin Koppel, Taavi Veskimägi, Herty Tammo and Hendrik Reimand. The round was also joined by various well-known angel investors and entrepreneurs, including Kuldar Väärsi, along with Bitsick OÜ and ModulEnergy OÜ, further strengthening GaltTec’s network of strategic backers.

Private investment complements public grant funding from the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency, the European Space Agency Business Incubation Center, the Estonian Ministry of Defense, the State Shared Service Centre, and the NATO DIANA accelerator program.

Founded in 2022, GaltTec is pioneering fuel cell technology to meet the growing demand for lightweight, sustainable, and highly efficient energy solutions. The company’s fuel cells are designed to significantly extend operational endurance for drones and IoT devices, making them a game-changer for industries that rely on long-lasting, portable power sources.

GaltTec already partners with leading drone manufacturers, including Skycorp Technologies, a European pioneer in hydrogen-powered drones, showcasing the real-world potential of its technology.

GaltTec’s dual-use strategy positions its fuel cells as a critical solution for both commercial and defense sectors. In 2024, the company became the first Estonian startup to join the NATO DIANA accelerator program, which supports deep-tech companies contributing to national security and defense. Additionally, GaltTec has signed a cooperation agreement with the Estonian Defence Forces to test ethanol-based fuel cells, further reinforcing the strategic importance of its technology.

With strong backing from both private and public sectors, GaltTec is well-positioned to scale its technology, expand into new markets, and drive the future of sustainable energy solutions for drones, IoT devices, and beyond.

Kenyan business delegation visit

On February 21 Kenyan🇰🇪 delegation visited Sparkup Tartu Teaduspark to gain insights into Estonia's research and development activities.

Our Vice CEO of Sales and Relations Laura Elise Arvisto had a chance to introduce our business development process and solid oxide fuel cells technology.🚀 The visit was a good opportunity to explore cooperation 🤝opportunities between Estonia and Kenya enterprises and strengthen business relations.

The visit was organized by Enterprise Estonia, the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Singapore journalists press trip

This week Singapore delegation visited Estonia in aim to discover Estonia's Pioneering DeepTech innovations. One day out of the press trip was dedicated to Tartu, and during the visit to Sparkup Tartu Science Park, GaltTec also had a chance to host the journalists delegation and introduce our proprietary solid oxide fuel cell technology.

It was a great opportunity to strengthen international relations, promote trade and investment opportunities and increase global medial coverage.

The visit was ordered by Trade Estonia and Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organised by Milton New Nordics.

GaltTec alustab sektoritevahelise mobiilsuse projekti elluviimisega

Sektoritevahelise mobiilsuse ehk SekMo projekti eesmärk on edendada teadmiste ja uuenduste levikut, soodustades töötajate liikuvust ja koostööd Eesti teadus- ja arendusasutuste, kõrgkoolide ning avaliku, era- ja kolmanda sektori organisatsioonide vahel.

Projekti raames tegeldakse mikrotubulaarsetesse elektrolüüttorudesse poorsete anoodikihtide sadestamise ja neilt elektriliste kontaktide võtmise probleemistikuga. Sadestamiseks kasutatakse vedelkeemia meetodeid kombineerituna paagutustega. Projekt panustab senisest kiiremini käivituvate, energiatihedamate ja põrutuskindlamate kütuseelementide arendamisse ja turule toomisse.

Projekti nimi: "Ütriaga stabiliseeritud tsirkoonia mikrotorud ja nende kasutamine tahkeoksiidsetes kütuseelementides".

GaltTec sai EIS-i süvatehnoloogia iduettevõtja äriarenduprojektide toetuse

Projekti eesmärk on toetada süvatehnoloogia iduettevõtete äriarendusteadmisi- ja oskusi, kasvatades seeläbi suurema lisandväärtusega toodete, teenuste, tehnoloogiate loomist ja nende eksporti.
Projekti raames tegeleb GaltTec rahvusvahelise turusobivuse järeleproovimisega ning sellega seoses emase tagasiside küsimisega potentsiaalsetelt klientidelt. Samuti on eesmärk leida uusi rahvusvahelisi investoreid, osaldes erinevatel valdkonna messidel ja üritustel.
Projekti tulemusena kogutakse klientidelt esmane sisend ja viiakse läbi pilootkatsetused, kus GaltTeci kütuseelementi testitakse kliendi seadme peal. Projekti toetab uute investeerimislepingute ja eellepingute sõlmimist.
