Materials Engineer

Materials Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Materials Engineer to join our R&D team and drive the development of next-generation micro-tubular solid oxide fuel cells. You will play a central role in shaping our material platforms: from electrolyte tubes to electrode coatings, ensuring durability, performance, and manufacturability as we scale from prototypes to pilot production.

You will be part of a fast-moving startup team where your contributions directly impact our technology roadmap, and where collaboration across chemistry, mechanical, and electronics disciplines is essential.

Your tasks

  • Develop and optimize materials and processes for fuel cell components (electrolyte, electrodes, coatings)
  • Plan and execute experimental campaigns to improve microstructure, stability, and performance
  • Characterize materials and interpret results to guide process optimization
  • Document methods, results, and best practices in clear technical reports and SOPs
  • Establish and improve manufacturing protocols and assembly processes to ensure reproducible fabrication
  • Work closely with testing and design teams to link materials properties to real-world cell and stack performance

Your qualification

  • BSc or MSc in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related field (PhD a plus)
  • Hands-on experience in ceramic processing (powder synthesis, thermal treatments, coatings, sintering) is a strong advantage
  • Practical experience with materials characterization (e.g., SEM, XRD, TGA) and ability to interpret results
  • Familiarity with structure–property relationships in ceramic or electrochemical materials is a strong advantage
  • Experience in fuel cells, batteries, or electrochemical devices is a strong advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written
  • Ability to work independently in a lab environment and contribute effectively in a multidisciplinary team
